iAnywhere Highlights Use of Mobile Virtualization
Virtualized Information Anywhere Suite lowers costs and drives efficiency for partner applications

Digg This!

“We’re empowering our partners to take advantage of the growing trend toward the use of virtualization technology to solve IT problems,” said Joe Owen, vice president of engineering, Sybase iAnywhere. “Now our partners who rely on co-located or multi-tenancy software scenarios have a scalable, secure option they can offer to their customers.”

At TechWave 2007 Sybase iAnywhere highlighted opportunities for the use of Information Anywhere suite mobile management and security technology in virtualized environments. Meeting demand for multi-tenancy and hosted applications, partners can leverage virtualization technology to increase security and scalability of management services based on Information Anywhere mobile management technology.

Key advantages to using virtualized Information Anywhere management and security technology include:

Increased Scalability
Virtual technology allows service providers to dynamically allocate server capacity across multiple customers based on network traffic and service-level agreements. This also allows providers to more easily take advantage of the latest generation multi-core processors and blade servers for maximum performance and reduced hardware investment.

Greater Security

In a managed mobility services environment, data from multiple companies may reside in shared databases and files, which creates an opportunity for one company’s data to “leak” across the environment and mix with that of a different company. By completely compartmentalizing the server and database for each company as a separate virtual image, this technology eliminates the risk of co-mingling of data, which improves security, even when run on the same host machine.
