SEVEN has announced it is the email provider for ‘Mail Movistar’ across Telefonica’s entire customer base — including small office/home office (SOHO), small and medium enterprise (SME), enterprise and, launching today, the consumer segment. The partnership strategically places Telefonica and SEVEN at the heart of Spain’s lucrative mobile email market.
As a leader in mobile email, SEVEN provides Telefonica with an email solution sophisticated enough for the enterprise segment yet simple and intuitive for the average consumer. In addition, having one email solution across Telefonica’s entire base generates new revenue as customers use the service for one purpose and migrate to using email for another. The wireless operator has witnessed this migration from business to consumer, and with the launch of consumer email in its Residential segment today, even more of Telefonica’s customers will be able to enjoy the benefits of mobile email no matter what they use it for.
Telefonica and SEVEN enjoy a long-standing history of success. The two companies launched the enterprise e-mail solution in May 2005, followed by an SME solution in February 2006. Mobile email is included at no additional charge as part of the consumer service that is launched today with introductory monthly rates as low as 6, 10 and 15 Euros. The consumer email solution supports most commonly used email services such as Microsoft Live™ Hotmail®, Gmail, Terra and Telefonica’s own email account.
