FAREHAM, UK -- (Marketwire) -- 05/20/09 -- SD/SDIO design specialists Elan Digital Systems announce the immediate availability of a unique new communications tool for the mobile market.
The Mobidapter is a USB memory stick reader which plugs directly into the SD memory slot on mobile/cell phones, smart phones and PDAs.
This means it is now possible to transfer data such as pictures, MP3 files, Microsoft Office applications, or in fact any type of file from a standard USB memory pen to a mobile device, and vice versa. No PC is needed for the process and no driver software is needed. The device is compatible with virtually all of the latest phones with an external SD memory slot and standard USB memory pens.
In addition, physical connection to the host device avoids problems with wireless connection stability and data security.
Power is provided from the host device so no batteries are needed.
With its overall size at just 1.38 x 2.95 x 0.4 inches and a weight of just one ounce the device is ideal for travelling light, and effectively eliminates the need for carrying a PC around.
As well as being an essential addition to the currently available data-sharing options available today the Mobidapter also demonstrates Elan Digital's leading position in customised SD/SDIO technology.
