Video-on-demand and audio-on-demand are expected on many airlines nowadays, so it is no surprise that the version of KrisWorld, Singapore Airlines' in-flight entertainment system, that is being installed in the Airbus A380s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners that the company has on order is going to have a state-of-the-art system. 
What is rather more surprising though is that the airline intends to install a 40-gigabyte PC in every seat, running Red Hat Linux.
There will be a copy of Sun's StarOffice on each PC.
The first seats on an Singapore Airlines A380, the world's largest commercial jet liner with a seating capacity of just under 500, have already been offered for sale on eBay's Singapore web site. It is planned to be in October, from Singapore to Sydney.
Penguin-lovers are welcome to make a bid.
