Zingy plans to launch a subscription-based service this summer that gives its nearly two million registered users the opportunity to upload their own video clips to zingy.com and then send those clips to their Java-enabled mobile phones. The application is being built with helloNetwork's helloMobile Encoder Appliance (EA), whose technology provides instant encoding and packaging of video, audio, and data for mobile delivery. Zingy is a licensee of helloMobile and will continue to use the product to develop high-value applications for its subscribers.
What makes the application so easy to use is that it accepts common file types including .avi, .mov, and .mpg -- file formats that most subscribers and PC users already use. The drag-and-drop functionality of helloMobile EA makes it ideal for deploying a Web-based interface for encoding and packaging, thereby opening up the application to direct subscriber usage. The content in the clips is completely up to the customers who created them.
The helloMobile Encoder Appliance is an easy-to-use, router-sized box that contains everything needed to automatically encode video, audio, and data and package it for delivery to a wide variety of Java-enabled wireless devices
