Lanyon Announces Speaker Lineup for Lanyon Live 2015

Customer Conference to Feature Shark Tank's Lori Greiner as Well as Leaders From Across the Business World

DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 10/13/15 -- Lanyon, a leader in corporate meetings, events and travel software, announced its speaker lineup for the company's annual customer conference. Entitled "Lanyon Live," the conference will feature a diverse speaker list of renowned leaders from across the business world as well as the meetings, events and travel industry. With the theme of "Better Together," Lanyon Live will take place at The Fairmont Dallas October 26 to 28, 2015.

General session speakers include:

Keynote: Lori Greiner, from ABC's "Shark Tank" and QVC. Lori is a star shark on the hit entrepreneurial ABC business show "Shark Tank," where she and other business leaders invest in companies and help turn dreams into reality. At Lanyon Live, she'll be joining us to share her inspiring story -- along with the strategies that have led her and so many others to achieve their goals and dreams of success.

Industry Keynote: Elizabeth Pinkham, Salesforce. Ms. Pinkham is Senior Vice President of Strategic Events and Executive Briefing Centers at Salesforce, where she has been leading the company's event marketing strategy since 2000. Ms. Pinkham oversees a wide range of brand and event experiences worldwide, ranging from launches and sports and entertainment marketing, executive briefing centers, Salesforce's World Tours and signature events that are held on a global scale. Notably, Pinkham has spearheaded the company's annual Dreamforce event in San Francisco since its inception in 2003; this year, the event drew 170,000 registered attendees, 11 million online viewers and a cruise ship dubbed the Dreamboat. During her tenure, Dreamforce has become an event that has evolved the way many think about B2B conferences. Ms. Pinkham will take part in a "fireside chat" with Lanyon CMO Anthony Miller on what it takes to grow your events, how to best utilize event technology, what she's learned through her experiences of creating Dreamforce, and tips for fellow-event planners on working together with business partners at the highest levels to achieve successful events.

"Lanyon Live will be the first customer conference we'll host as the new Lanyon. We are excited to have so many industry leaders and customers coming together to discuss key trends and share best practices," said David Bonnette, CEO of Lanyon. "The event theme of 'Better Together' is an extension of our core belief that Lanyon is better now that we have brought together leading software solutions for our customers. Our industry is better when we all work together, and fundamentally, business is better when people get together. Lanyon Live is the perfect opportunity for us to do what we do best -- bring people together."

Joining Ms. Pinkham and Ms. Greiner will be speakers from Johnson & Johnson, Hilton, Microsoft, Glaxo Smith Klein, Cisco, IHG, Eastwick, and an industry association panel -- with the heads of MPI, GBTA, PCMA, and Meetings Mean Business. The conference will be an opportunity for attendees to learn about current and future trends, how professionals can work together to further the meetings, events and travel industry, and also share best practices with businesses and hotels of all sizes on how to best engage with their customers.

"We are proud to power the meetings, events and travel for thousands of businesses, including some of the world's best known brands. This will be a forum for them to come together and share their success stories," continued Bonnette. "It has been a busy year for us at Lanyon, and I'm looking forward to sharing insights into all that we have achieved, as well as a glimpse into what I believe is the most important and exciting roadmap in our history."

Imagine if you will, a retail floor so densely packed with sensors that they can pick up the movements of insects scurrying across a store aisle. Or a component of a piece of factory equipment so well-instrumented that its digital twin provides resolution down to the micrometer.
When shopping for a new data processing platform for IoT solutions, many development teams want to be able to test-drive options before making a choice. Yet when evaluating an IoT solution, it’s simply not feasible to do so at scale with physical devices. Building a sensor simulator is the next best choice; however, generating a realistic simulation at very high TPS with ease of configurability is a formidable challenge. When dealing with multiple application or transport protocols, you would be...

Smart cities have the potential to change our lives at so many levels for citizens: less pollution, reduced parking obstacles, better health, education and more energy savings. Real-time data streaming and the Internet of Things (IoT) possess the power to turn this vision into a reality. However, most organizations today are building their data infrastructure to focus solely on addressing immediate business needs vs. a platform capable of quickly adapting emerging technologies to address future ...
We are given a desktop platform with Java 8 or Java 9 installed and seek to find a way to deploy high-performance Java applications that use Java 3D and/or Jogl without having to run an installer. We are subject to the constraint that the applications be signed and deployed so that they can be run in a trusted environment (i.e., outside of the sandbox). Further, we seek to do this in a way that does not depend on bundling a JRE with our applications, as this makes downloads and installations rat...

In this strange new world where more and more power is drawn from business technology, companies are effectively straddling two paths on the road to innovation and transformation into digital enterprises. The first path is the heritage trail – with “legacy” technology forming the background. Here, extant technologies are transformed by core IT teams to provide more API-driven approaches. Legacy systems can restrict companies that are transitioning into digital enterprises. To truly become a lead...
Digital Transformation (DX) is not a "one-size-fits all" strategy. Each organization needs to develop its own unique, long-term DX plan. It must do so by realizing that we now live in a data-driven age, and that technologies such as Cloud Computing, Big Data, the IoT, Cognitive Computing, and Blockchain are only tools. In her general session at 21st Cloud Expo, Rebecca Wanta explained how the strategy must focus on DX and include a commitment from top management to create great IT jobs, monitor ...

The IoT Will Grow: In what might be the most obvious prediction of the decade, the IoT will continue to expand next year, with more and more devices coming online every single day. What isn’t so obvious about this prediction: where that growth will occur. The retail, healthcare, and industrial/supply chain industries will likely see the greatest growth. Forrester Research has predicted the IoT will become “the backbone” of customer value as it continues to grow. It is no surprise that retail is ...
