NEW YORK, Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:

The Service assurance systems: worldwide forecast 2014–2018

http://www.reportlinker.com/p02240541/The-Service-assurance-systems-worldwide-forecast-2014–2018.html

The worldwide service assurance market is forecast to grow from USD2.93 billion in 2013 to USD4.13 billion in 2018, at a CAGR of 7.2%. LTE will continue to be a major driver for service assurance investments during the forecast period. This report provides a 5-year revenue forecast for five application segments, four service sectors and four regions.

LTE roll-out and data service take-up in emerging markets will drive long-term growth in the service assurance systems market

-The service assurance market will grow from USD2.93 billion in 2013 to USD4.13 billion in 2018, at a CAGR of 7.2%.

-LTE will continue to be a major driver for service assurance investments during the forecast period. Growth in the first 3 years will be relatively slow because LTE-related spending in mature markets such as North America (NA) will decline.

-Investments will increase in emerging markets as operators accelerate LTE deployments, which will drive higher growth during the latter part of the forecast period. Countries in emerging Asia–Pacific (APAC) and parts of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) have planned LTE roll-outs in this period.

-Cost and bottom-line pressures will drive investments in network operations centre (NOC) consolidation initiatives and system rationalisation projects. Service operation centre (SOC) implementation, big data and real-time network analytics will be strong drivers, for improving customer experience, increasing customer loyalty and reducing churn.

-In the long term, a number of operators will deploy voice over LTE (VoLTE). Given the complexity of VoLTE, operators will need advanced monitoring systems to assure the service.

-As operators evolve their networks to introduce virtualised network functions, they will need new assurance and orchestration systems that can manage both legacy and virtualised infrastructure.

Drivers

-LTE network roll-out in emerging markets, including Emerging APAC and MEA.-Increased consumption of data services in LATAM and Emerging APAC, because of increasing smartphone penetration.-Service assurance consolidation to drive customer experience improvements, and transformation from network-centric to service- and customer-centric operations.-Use of real-time network analytics to better understand customer behaviour.-Efficient network planning using near-real-time network performance data.-New services such as VoLTE and Wi-Fi.-New cloud-based services combining compute, storage and network.-Network virtualisation initiatives such as NFV and SDN.-Increasing traction in the M2M domain.

Inhibitors

-Organisational barriers to sharing network data between departments.

-Privacy concerns.

-Regulatory issues related to net neutrality.

-Inadequate support from senior management for transformation projects.

-Poor understanding of CEM principles.

-Difficulty in justifying the business case for CEM.

-Lack of OSS standards for virtualised networks will inhibit investment in assurance systems for NFV and SDN.

The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
