The Government of New Taipei City Collaborates with Industries and Academia to Contend for the Intelligent Community of the Year 2014

TAIPEI, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The New Taipei City (NTPC) has actively promoted intelligent city related programs since its upgrade. Under the concerted effort by the industry, the NTPC government, and academia, it has been ranked as one of the Top 7 Intelligent Communities of the Year 2014 by Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) with its innovative IT applications over the past 3 years.

Robert Bell, one of the founders and judges of ICF, visited Taiwan for two days specifically for this purpose. On March 20th and 21st, the NTPC Government worked with Chunghwa Telecom, the Farglory Group, the Far Eastern Group, Global Mobile Corp., Horng Jou Ceramics, Luxgen Motor Co., Microsoft Taiwan, Singtex Industries Ltd., Tai-hwa Pottery, and Taipei Port Container Terminal Corp. as well as NTPC Fire Department, Police Department, smart borough heads, industrial alliance, and Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce to jointly present NTPC's achievements in broadband connection, cloud computing and big data application, industrial innovation and transformation, environmental sustainability, cloud teaching, cultural creativity industry, and cloud government. The government of NTPC targets at the Intelligent Community of the Year 2014 with full strength.

Dr. Eric Lilun Chu, the Mayor of NTPC, stated that the honor of NTPC as one of the Top7 Intelligent Communities in 2014 represented a collective work of government, industries, and every citizen over the past 3 years since its upgrade. He also expressed gratitude to ICF judges' recognition. In the future, the Government of NTPC will continue to implement the policy of "One NTPC, One Government" to closely consolidate the resources from industries, the government, and academia via information technology and workflow reform. The goal is to upgrade governmental effectiveness, residents' happiness, convenient living, the competitiveness of both the city and the business to make NTPC a happy city of joint intelligence.

During Robert Bell's visit, he saw the commitment of the industry, the government, and academia's in NTPC to building an intelligent city. In terms of the broadband construction and industrial culture development, not only is broad band infrastructure very sound (NTPC household 100MB fiber-optic service coverage reaches 87.08%; percentage of broadband Internet access reaches 80.66%; and 3.5G population exceeds 95%, with over 11,900 free WiFi hot spots), government, enterprises, and schools all have innovations that fully utilize information technology, including Luxgen Motor Co. which has successfully developed the first eco-friendly high-tech electric vehicle, Taipei Port smart logistic center that became part of the free trade demonstration zone, the Farglory Group that builds intelligent buildings with IT and Eco-sustainability, the Far Eastern Tpark that transformed from traditional industrial park into an information and communication technology park, Singtex Industries Ltd. that develops world-leading eco-friendly S.Cafe fabric, Horng Jou Ceramics that features the combination of tourism and cultural creativity, Tai-hua Pottery that showcases Taiwan's local industries and craftsmanship with brilliant glazing and firing, Chenfu Elementary School integrating natural resource utilization and cloud teaching, smart borough head system that communicates through cloud technology across different districts areas, Fire Department's smart dispatch and mobile emergency room, and Police Department Tech-secure City.
