According to data from China's three telecommunications operators, the country saw a 0.6 percent monthly increase in the number of mobile subscribers, up to 1.24 billion in January. Read Original Content

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi began its expansion outside of China with the launch of its Android devices in Singapore on February 21, and a local service center will be opened to support customers in Singapore. Read Original Content

According to a new report from British company OpenSignal, Australia has the world's fastest mobile internet, with an average download speed on 4G networks of 24.5 Mbps.  When it comes to coverage, however, the country ranks ninth.  Australians have access to 4G networks 58 percent of the time, while first-ranked South Korea has access 91 percent of the time. Asian communications firm SingTel is working with Ericsson to launch several 4G/LTE services this year.  The new services include: 300Mbps mobile broadband service with LTE-Advanced; improved video streaming with LTE Broadcast technology; and enhanced indoor coverage with Ericsson Radio Dot System technology.
