MUNICH, March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MediaTek Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, today announced that Siegmund Redl has been appointed as General Manager Corporate Marketing, Europe. In his new role, Redl will lead the corporate marketing and business development activities for MediaTek's expansion into Europe. He will report to Johan Lodenius, the Chief Marketing Officer of MediaTek.

A long time member of the European Mobile Community, Redl started his career in 1990 in the early days of GSM as Support Engineer at Schlumberger Technologies and in 1997 became Director of the Wireless Communications Business Unit at LSI. In more than 10 years of service for Qualcomm Inc., Redl established key business relationships for the company throughout Europe. Recently Redl served as General Manager, Europe, for the LTE startup Altair Semiconductor.
