Sagentia, a global innovation, technology and product development company, today announced the release of its innovation survey, which they hope will take place annually. The company’s United States headquarters, located at One Beacon Street in Boston, Massachusetts, released the data, which focuses on the current state of innovation in the U.S. Sagentia’s survey, commissioned as a Harris Group interactive study with over 2,500 American adults, delivers insights about advances in technology, design and product innovation around the world.
Key findings from the survey include information on American innovation as compared to its global competitors (i.e. China, UK, Brazil, Germany, etc.); which countries are best poised for international innovation and the impact of smartphones on personal creativity and advancements. Results from the Sagentia Innovation Survey found that almost 60 percent of Americans believe mobile technology increases a company’s ability to innovate successfully (i.e., provide opportunities to develop parallel services or applications that are profitable and deliver commercial return).
The study also found that 44 percent of respondents “somewhat agreed” that people are able to develop full, thoughtful and creative ideas while using their mobile device. Additionally, 36 percent of those surveyed feel that the prevalence of smartphone and tablet use in the United States has enabled individuals to think more innovatively.
“With Sagentia’s industry-leading work as an outsourced R&D partner for product development, we have seen mobile technology become a key platform for innovation in both the consumer and healthcare sectors,” said Peter Thier, senior vice president of business development at Sagentia. “With this survey we sought to go one step further and take the pulse of how mobile technology is changing how we ‘think’ creatively. Given our commitment here in the U.S. and worldwide to driving breakthrough innovation in science, technology and engineering, we are delighted to be able to release these data points, which we believe give some interesting food for thought.”
The 2013 Sagentia Innovation Survey release comes on the heels of a December 2012 expansion and relocation of the company’s U.S. headquarters from the Cambridge Innovation Center to One Beacon Street in downtown Boston, MA. Sagentia continues to deepen its roots in the U.S. and in the Boston area, while staying committed to meeting the needs of its clients in the medtech, consumer and industrial sectors.
