MOUNT LAUREL, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 02/27/13 -- Ulticom, the industry leader in signaling software solutions, announces deployment of the Ulticom Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) product in a leading IPX/LTE Hubbing network through their OEM partnership with Mavenir Systems.
This deployment leverages the Software Solution from Mavenir/Ulticom to enable Cloud based delivery of LTE Roaming DEA services. This solution enables network operators to interconnect their network with other providers without having to field and maintain a physical DEA. The solution simplifies the introduction of LTE Roaming, and allows individual network operators to start with minimal investment and grow with the increasing demand.
Mavenir Systems' solution consists of large scale Ulticom DSCs serving as a central router at the core of the network. Arrayed around the network are DSCs serving in the role of Diameter Edge Agents (DEA).
The IPX/LTE Hub deploys DEAs in a Cloud Computing infrastructure, leveraging virtualization and cloud technologies enabling other network operators to select the DEA deployment solution that best meets their needs. As capacity requirements change, the approach supports easy expansion strategies. Mobile Network Operators can then individually choose to use DEA functionality hosted in the Cloud or deploy DEAs using virtual or dedicated hardware at the edge of their networks.
Mavenir is a leading provider of software-based networking solutions for mobile service providers to deliver high-quality internet protocol (IP)-based voice, video, rich communications and enhanced messaging services globally.
"The ability to virtualize services is a key strategy for Mavenir and opens up a whole new approach for service delivery, well suited to IPX providers," said Terry McCabe, Chief Technology Officer, Mavenir Systems. "The Ulticom Diameter Signaling Controller is the first step to deployment of hosted services such as RCS."
"Ulticom's software-based DSC provides a powerful, cost effective solution that leverages Cloud Computing and Virtualization technologies. The combination enables new business models for network operators," said Bruce Swail, CEO of Ulticom. "Working with innovative OEM partner, Mavenir Systems, we look forward to additional exciting solutions for the emerging VoLTE and RCS markets."
The Ulticom DSC provides Mobile Network Operators, Roaming Hub Operators, and Telecom Equipment Manufacturers with a turn-key, Linux-based software solution that can be incrementally deployed as a stand-alone system, as was the solution at Mavenir, or can be easily integrated into new or existing products.
Ulticom's DSC is a Centralized Router, a Diameter Load Balancer, a Diameter Routing Agent (DRA), or a Diameter Edge Agent (DEA). DEA functionality supports LTE Roaming while DRA functionality provides advanced policy management signaling routing (IP-CAN Binding). Ulticom's Diameter Product Family provides the ability to interwork between Diameter and SS7 networks -- enabling 2G-3G-4G integration.
