Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a market leader enabling wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced that Torres Networks is leveraging Radisys’ award-winning T-Series 40G ATCA platform and Trillium® 3G/LTE software stacks to build a state-of-the-art Mobile Offload Gateway. Radisys’ delivery of an integrated platform and protocol stack enabled unprecedented time to market, reducing Torres Networks’ product development time from 18 months to six months.
Wireless operators are faced with exponential traffic growth on their networks, and Torres Networks’ Mobile Offload Gateway enables them to avoid costly capacity increases to the network core elements by offloading Internet-bound traffic away from the core. The gateway is strategically deployed at the Radio Access Network aggregation interface, resulting in significant CAPEX savings for operators. The solution supports a dynamic offload mode, and can be deployed in a hybrid network environment consisting of Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G networks. Torres Networks plans to begin operator lab trials in June of this year.
“Our Mobile Offload Gateway required a carrier-grade platform and integrated wireless software with the ability to scale capacity to the highest possible level, and we had confidence that Radisys, as our strategic partner, could provide exactly what we needed on an accelerated timeline,” said Anand Uppili, CEO, Torres Networks. “Radisys’ pre-integrated T-Series 40G platform and Trillium wireless software provide the shortest time to revenue.”
Radisys is the only solution provider that has in-house the necessary combination of deep wireless system expertise and a broad portfolio of best-in-class products and intellectual property with proven system development execution. Radisys’ delivery of a pre-integrated, application-ready platform enabled Torres Networks to significantly reduce risk and time to market, lower total cost of ownership, and free up internal resources to focus on its application.
Radisys’ T-Series 40G ATCA platform, the T40, delivers the latest processing and switching capabilities, enabling operators to scale capacity to 4x over 10G systems and realize a 50 percent cost per bit reduction. The integrated Trillium wireless software delivers the necessary monitoring and carrier-grade high-availability features. Torres Networks also leveraged Radisys’ end-to-end TOTALeNodeB™ small cell software and compact Evolved Packet Core (EPC) to provide a robust simulation environment with which to test its Mobile Offload Gateway.
“Torres Networks is able to get out ahead of its competition thanks to our ability to take our standards-based, award-winning hardware and software and provide a custom crafted solution that met Torres’ requirements,” said Todd Mersch, senior director product line management, Software and Solutions, Radisys. “By leveraging a single vendor and our industry veteran wireless team’s expertise, Torres Networks knocked a whole year off its schedule, bringing its Mobile Offload Gateway to market faster than previously thought possible.”
Radisys will be showcasing its complete product portfolio of wireless infrastructure solutions in Stand 5G34, Hall 5 at Mobile World Congress, February 25-28 in Barcelona. To schedule a meeting with Radisys at the show, contact info@radisys.com.
