Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a market leader enabling wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced that ViaSat Inc. is using its T-Series ATCA platform for ViaSat’s next generation satellite-based broadband infrastructure. Radisys’ T-Series ATCA platform is enabling ViaSat to meet its time-to-market, performance and capacity targets. ViaSat’s satellite-based broadband infrastructure and service provides in excess of 12Mbps Internet connectivity for land and in the air connections, with web page download times comparable to fiber access.
“We have seen good traction and success with our satellite-based broadband service, and our satellite technology delivers the infrastructure to enable cable/fiber-like Internet access to all customers within a satellite footprint without any compromises,” said Bill Hallstrom, vice president Broadband Engineering, ViaSat. “Radisys is our trusted partner for these network deployments and its platforms already support live traffic on our Exede® networks. Using Radisys’ pre-integrated T-Series ATCA platform in our next generation network, we can meet our aggressive time-to-market goals with increased capabilities.”
Radisys’ T-Series ATCA platform solution includes the pre-integration of all of the hardware elements and T-Series Management Software, which includes ATCA platform management, load balancing and switch redundancy. This application-ready solution enables ViaSat to focus resources on developing its application, thereby accelerating its time to market while delivering up to a 3x boost in application performance. In addition, ViaSat can easily transition to next-generation 40G ATCA platforms in the future to boost performance and meet capacity demands as needed and with minimal risk and investment.
“Our combination of award-winning hardware, software and integration expertise enables us to deliver new technology to our customers on a very short timeline,” said Keate Despain, vice president and general manager, Platforms, Radisys. “We’re excited to support ViaSat’s deployment plans, knowing that our ATCA technology will help bring the digital world to people in even the most remote regions of the globe.”
Radisys will be showcasing its ATCA product portfolio in Stand 5G34, Hall 5 at Mobile World Congress, February 25-28 in Barcelona. To schedule a meeting with Radisys’ ATCA experts at the show, contact info@radisys.com.
