VMTurbo Transforms IT Operations with Software-Defined Control in Latest Release

VMTurbo, the leading provider of software-defined control for cloud and virtualized environments, today released the 3.3 version of VMTurbo Operations Manager. This release expands on the company’s charter to transform IT operations from a complex, labor intensive, and volatile process to one that is simple, automated and predictable – delivering greater control in maintaining a healthy state and consistent service delivery. The release delivers new features that enable intelligent automation across heterogeneous hypervisor and cloud platforms; integrate analytics for planning, deploying and operating virtual data centers; and simplify control for IT operators.

“IT Operations teams strive to proactively manage the performance, capacity and health of their virtualized infrastructure, but often fall short due to the complexity of managing dynamic infrastructure with too many dependencies and constraints to consider,” said Mark Bowker, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “Tools are available to analyze the millions of metrics collected per day, but then you need the brain power to interpret the data. Taking the next step in providing the ‘To Do’ list for operational staff—and, further, automating actions—will cut out the incident investigation time and effort, lowering OpEx and reducing the risk of production outages.”

VMTurbo delivers a new approach to meet these challenges. Operations Manager controls virtualized and cloud environments by assuring application performance while utilizing the infrastructure as efficiently as possible. The product’s software-defined control offloads and automates decision-making from operational staff instead of just collecting data and providing alerts. VMTurbo customers are experiencing tremendous efficiency gains by reducing time spent troubleshooting and maximizing infrastructure utilization.

“VMTurbo delivers simplicity in every aspect of product design and deployment—from its simple virtual appliance delivery to its streamlined user interface to its hands-free automated control of the virtual infrastructure,” said Yuri Rabover, vice president of product strategy and co-founder at VMTurbo. “Furthermore, Operations Manager employs a layer of abstraction across the environment through which analytics can be run to prescribe actions based on business rules and system interdependencies—simplifying IT operations and delivering software-defined control for the software-defined data center.”

With its 3.3 release, VMTurbo Operations Manager further differentiates itself from other approaches on the market in driving and automating intelligent control of cloud and virtualized environments. Enhanced capabilities in the product include:

  • Broad, unified operational control across heterogeneous hypervisors and cloud platforms – The 3.3 release now supports VMware vCloud Suite 5.1, Microsoft Hyper-V 2012, and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1, along with CloudStack and Citrix XenServer.
  • Integrated analytics for planning, deploying and operating cloud infrastructures and virtual data centers – The 3.3 release leverages the same intelligence for all phases of operations, reducing operational costs and improving utilization. In the latest release, a cluster projection dashboard enhances planning capabilities by providing greater accuracy in understanding the workload demand trending with cluster projections. This further improves predictability and planning recommendations.
  • Simplified control of the IT infrastructure – The VMTurbo product is designed to simplify IT operations through all facets of solution. The 3.3 release builds on this by enabling users to flexibly manage business constraints by specifying exception handling for automated actions, thus ensuring that prescribed actions do not conflict with specific policies or constraints.

VMTurbo Operations Manager is generally available today. Pricing starts at $499 per physical host socket.

"We've discovered that after shows 80% if leads that people get, 80% of the conversations end up on the show floor, meaning people forget about it, people forget who they talk to, people forget that there are actual business opportunities to be had here so we try to help out and keep the conversations going," explained Jeff Mesnik, Founder and President of ContentMX, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 18th Cloud Expo, held June 7-9, 2016, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.

I wanted to gather all of my Internet of Things (IOT) blogs into a single blog (that I could later use with my University of San Francisco (USF) Big Data “MBA” course). However as I started to pull these blogs together, I realized that my IOT discussion lacked a vision; it lacked an end point towards which an organization could drive their IOT envisioning, proof of value, app dev, data engineering and data science efforts. And I think that the IOT end point is really quite simple…
