TranSwitch’s HDplay Solution Selected by Edge I&D for New High Definition Interactive LED-LCD Display Whiteboards

TranSwitch Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions in the rapidly growing consumer electronics and telecommunications markets, today announced that the Company’s HDplay™ transceiver has been designed into Edge I&D’s new Interactive LED-LCD Display Whiteboards. The interactive whiteboard models, using TXC-44144 HDplay transceivers, will be available in displays ranging in size up to 84 inches and can support 4Kx2K video resolution. Edge I&D is a Korea-based ODM for interactive education tools and commercial multimedia applications, including interactive whiteboards which display video using a large screen, enabling a user to annotate and manipulate presentations in real time using touch screen technology.

According to a new report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., global sales of interactive whiteboards are expected to reach US $1.85 Billion by 2018. The source devices for interactive whiteboards are expected to increasingly feature both HDMI® and DisplayPort™ connectivity. TranSwitch’s HDplay transceivers are optimized to support these trends by combining both HDMI and DisplayPort standards, as well as utilizing the Company's patented AnyCable™ technology to maintain high definition video performance over long cable runs.

“Our new interactive display whiteboards are powerful tools with broad applications for education, business meetings, training, and other collaborative environments,” said Maeng Sungyeol, chief technical officer at Edge I&D. “Working with TranSwitch, we are able to deliver flexible solutions that enable users to easily and reliably connect a variety of source devices while providing high definition video quality, robust interactive tools, and a simple user interface.”

“Our integrated HDplay solution provided the optimal high-speed video interconnect for Edge I&D’s interactive display requirements, while supporting HDMI and DisplayPort to provide unparalleled video connectivity flexibility in a single IC,” said Tim Blanke, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at TranSwitch. “We see increasing adoption of our HDplay product family across a variety of applications driven by performance requirements and the growing emergence of source devices supporting new video connectivity standards. We are excited to be working closely with Edge I&D to enable these next-generation interactive displays which are targeted for production ramp by the end of March 2013.”

TranSwitch’s HDplay transceivers are the industry’s only solutions that combine both HDMI and DisplayPort on a single integrated circuit. This level of integration enables manufacturers to reduce space requirements, design complexity, and overall cost, while speeding time-to-market. HDplay transceivers also incorporate TranSwitch’s patented AnyCable technology, which enables the use of long, less expensive HDMI cables with less shielding. Displays and devices that use HDplay provide the end-user with greater flexibility when selecting multimedia devices, peripherals, and cables.

Internet-of-Things discussions can end up either going down the consumer gadget rabbit hole or focused on the sort of data logging that industrial manufacturers have been doing forever. However, in fact, companies today are already using IoT data both to optimize their operational technology and to improve the experience of customer interactions in novel ways. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Gordon Haff, Red Hat Technology Evangelist, shared examples from a wide range of industries – including en...
Detecting internal user threats in the Big Data eco-system is challenging and cumbersome. Many organizations monitor internal usage of the Big Data eco-system using a set of alerts. This is not a scalable process given the increase in the number of alerts with the accelerating growth in data volume and user base. Organizations are increasingly leveraging machine learning to monitor only those data elements that are sensitive and critical, autonomously establish monitoring policies, and to detect...
