VANCOUVER, BC and LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 02/06/13 -- Las Vegas Sands Corp is giving conference and meeting customers one more reason to choose one of its properties in Las Vegas, Macao, Pennsylvania and Singapore for their next event. QuickMobile today announced that Las Vegas Sands is the first global developer of destination properties to offer SnapApp, a self-service enterprise technology that will allow Las Vegas Sands to sell, create and distribute customizable, branded mobile event apps. SnapApp provides Las Vegas Sands an additional revenue-generating solution for its properties and a value-added service to drive venue loyalty and create more memorable and engaging experiences for meeting attendees. Las Vegas Sands expects to roll out its mobile event solution at all of its properties in February 2013.
Mobile Event Apps: A Logical Next Step
"When it comes to venue operations, Las Vegas Sands has a first-class reputation, and their customers are loyal because of the consistent quality service that they receive," said Patrick Payne, CEO of QuickMobile. "By using our SnapApp technology and our QuickStart platform to provide mobile applications to its customers, Sands is creating a value-added solution that dramatically enhances the conference experience for attendees. At a time when everything is going mobile, offering a mobile event solution is a logical next step for the owners and operators of the largest venues in the world. This solution provides their customers with one more reason to bring their events back to a Sands property. Delivering easy to use, leading edge mobile technology is an innovative and bold move that Sands can use to its advantage in the marketplace."
With QuickMobile's self-service SnapApp multi-event platform, Las Vegas Sands staff can quickly and easily develop custom event apps for event customers. To begin the process, QuickMobile developed a branded master app for each of Las Vegas Sands' four regions. Sands staff uses SnapApp to create and deliver unique events that reside in the master app. Customers can choose from more than 30 built-in features and components such as in-app messaging, exhibitor and speaker profiles, photo galleries and social media. SnapApp technology also includes security, privacy and access settings, and the ability to select mobile device platforms for each event. Venue customers and event attendees only have to download the Las Vegas Sands master app for each property once as new customer event apps will be accessed from inside the master app using a special PIN or QR Code.
Advantages of Venues as the Technology Provider
Traditionally, mobile event apps are built around an event rather than a venue. Since meetings are already coming to Las Vegas Sands properties, the company can offer customers a number of advantages, including:
- Providing an efficient set-up process that leverages consistent features across all Las Vegas Sands mobile apps;
- Selling sponsorships and advertising opportunities to resident and local companies; turning apps into revenue-generating solutions; and
- Creating an affordable, easy-to-use mobile solution for any-size meeting by spreading costs across multiple events and companies.
Supporting Las Vegas Sands Green Strategy
Going mobile also supports Las Vegas Sands' Eco 360 degrees Global Sustainability strategy, which is focused on minimizing the company's environmental impact and operating sustainable building development and resort operations. By deploying a mobile event solution, Las Vegas Sands can eliminate the impact and costs associated with developing and printing event guides, updates and other paper-based materials. Unlike printed guides, mobile event guides can be updated in real-time, which means attendees will always have the current information.
QuickMobile works with meeting owners and organizers to develop fully branded mobile meeting apps that serve as catalysts for year-round conversations with their constituents. QuickMobile Mobile Event 2.0 solutions create always-on communication channels that allow event owners to extend their brand and interaction with customers, partners, stakeholders and employees beyond the timeframe and location of an event. By fully leveraging the capabilities of mobile technology, QuickMobile helps customers increase meeting engagement, improve strategic planning, extend branding, and drive sales and marketing while making communications more effective and sustainable. Mobile messaging has been a popular communication channel for more than 20 years. Finnish engineer Matti Makkonen invented the idea for SMS (Short Message Service) in 1984, making his vision a reality on December 3, 1992 by sending the first message ("Happy Christmas") from a PC to a cell phone. Since then, the technology has evolved immensely, from both a technology standpoint, and in our everyday uses for it. Originally used for person-to-person (P2P) communication, i.e., Sally sends a text message to Betty – mobile messaging now offers tremendous value to businesses for customer and empl...

Can call centers hang up the phones for good? Intuitive Solutions did. WebRTC enabled this contact center provider to eliminate antiquated telephony and desktop phone infrastructure with a pure web-based solution, allowing them to expand beyond brick-and-mortar confines to a home-based agent model. It also ensured scalability and better service for customers, including MUY! Companies, one of the country's largest franchise restaurant companies with 232 Pizza Hut locations. This is one example of WebRTC adoption today, but the potential is limitless when powered by IoT.

Clearly the way forward is to move to cloud be it bare metal, VMs or containers. One aspect of the current public clouds that is slowing this cloud migration is cloud lock-in. Every cloud vendor is trying to make it very difficult to move out once a customer has chosen their cloud. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Naveen Nimmu, CEO of Clouber, Inc., will advocate that making the inter-cloud migration as simple as changing airlines would help the entire industry to quickly adopt the cloud without worrying about any lock-in fears. In fact by having standard APIs for IaaS would help PaaS expl...

WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.
