TranSwitch Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions in the rapidly growing consumer electronics and telecommunications markets, today announced that the Company’s HDplay™ TXC-44146 transceiver has been designed into Acto’s new high definition projector models DX9100 and DW9100, which are optimized for digital cinemas, conferences, meeting rooms and public displays. Acto, a leading manufacturer of projectors in China, selected the HDplay transceiver to enable HDMI® and DisplayPort™ connectivity while utilizing TranSwitch’s AnyCable™ technology to maintain high definition video performance over long cable runs.
According to a recent report by IHS, the worldwide digital signage and professional display market is expected to increase from 17.3 million units in 2012 to 25.8 million units in 2016. The top three display technologies generating the largest revenue for signage and professional displays will be LCD, front projection, and LED respectively. These large format video devices often feature multiple interface standards to support different multimedia sources and are located remotely, requiring long runs of cable.
“In 2012, Acto achieved significant revenue growth and increased unit share of the global projector market driven by sales into key markets such as commercial, residential, and education, including government purchase projects in the People’s Republic of China,” said Zhang Zhengde, director of research & development at Acto. “TranSwitch’s HDplay solution supports our stringent video performance requirements while enabling connectivity for multiple interface standards and long video cable support in one solution. This level of performance, ease of use, and reliability aligns with the features and performance expected by our customers as part of the Acto brand offering to the marketplace.”
“We are very pleased to add Acto to our customer base and we are actively working with them to increase our adoption in new projects and new product categories at Acto with our HDplay family,” said Tim Blanke, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at TranSwitch. “Acto’s selection of the TXC-44146 further demonstrates the many advantages of our HDplay solutions, as well as the underlying benefits of our proprietary HDP™ and AnyCable technologies. Building on this design win, we look forward to further collaboration with Acto as they continue to grow their brand and product offering.”
TranSwitch’s HDplay transceivers are the industry’s only solutions that combine both HDMI and DisplayPort on a single integrated circuit, enabling manufacturers to reduce space requirements, design complexity, and overall cost, while speeding time-to-market. The Company’s newest HDplay products feature HDMI, DisplayPort, and MHL™ connectivity interfaces. HDplay transceivers also incorporate TranSwitch’s patented AnyCable technology, which enables the use of long, less expensive HDMI cables with less shielding. This level of integration and performance provides the end-user with support for high performance HD standards, as well as greater flexibility when selecting multimedia devices, peripherals, and cables.
