SAN BRUNO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/30/13 -- Devicescape today announced that its Curated mobile experience solution has been shortlisted within the "Best Cloud Based Technology for Mobile" category for the GSMA's 2013 Global Mobile Awards. The solution combines intelligent network selection with the world's largest curated virtual network of Wi-Fi hotspots to enable operators to magnify network capacity-reach and offer an "always best connected" experience.
Just in the past six months, mobile operators Republic Wireless, U.S. Cellular, Cincinnati Bell, Bouygues Telecom and Flash Wireless and device partners Intel and Microsoft have signed on to benefit from Devicescape's rapidly expanding CVN. By leveraging the Devicescape CVN and the Wi-Fi Offload Service, the operators have been able to expand their capacity-reach virtually overnight and elevate the end-user experience to offer far more data at a lower cost of delivery. Microsoft and Intel have also endorsed the Devicescape service by offering breakthrough connectivity solutions to their customers.
"Being recognized on a shortlist for the Global Mobile Awards is a testament to the significance of next generation network services that balance customer experience and network infrastructure demands," said Dave Fraser, CEO of Devicescape. "We are honored to be nominated by the GSMA for this award category and look forward to attending Mobile World Congress next month."
The Curator Service offers customizable policy and quality control management options that dynamically integrate amenity-based public Wi-Fi networks, encourage home and personal network use, all while ensuring a transparent user experience. Devicescape's patented curation process tests and re-tests tens of millions of newly discovered and existing hotspots in real-time, resulting in the world's largest carrier-grade Curated Virtual Network (CVN). Managed by the cloud-based Curator Service Platform (CSP), the intelligent client software automatically connects a mobile device to the CVN based on the best connection available.
The Global Mobile Awards recognize excellence and innovation in the mobile eco-system, attracting hundreds of submissions each year. The awards will be judged by a panel of independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics and mobile operator representatives. A subset of the "Best Mobile Technology" category, the "Best Cloud Based Technology for Mobile" award will go to the organization making the best and most innovative use of cloud-based technologies in the mobile environment for GSM-based service providers or end users.
The winners of the Global Mobile Awards will be announced at Mobile World Congress at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona on Tuesday, February 26. Devicescape will be exhibiting at Mobile World Congress at Stand 2A105 in Hall 2. For more information or to book a briefing with Devicescape at the show, please contact Devicescape@engagepr.com.
