mBlox, the leader in global mobile business to consumer engagement, today announced a restructuring of its operations to finalize its exit from the Premium SMS and carrier direct payments business. The plan announced today by new CEO, Tom Cotney, includes an investment plan to enhance its worldwide network for mobile delivery, and the integration of its network with new technology developed in its Lund, Sweden mobile technology laboratory.
Branded as "mBlox Engage", this leading edge mobile engagement platform delivers push messaging in highly contextual forms such as geo-fencing, which allows brands to target consumers at appropriate times and locations. Engage also allows the distribution of rich media formats such as videos and voice. In addition to the delivery capability, Engage provides analytic insights on how messages are received and responded to, and enables companies to create industry exclusive "Smart Groups."
Smart Groups are customer lists developed from the insights gleaned from consumer behavior in order to further refine follow on communications with the consumers based on their preferences. This mBlox exclusive enables brands to deliver an appropriate follow-on communication based on a deeper understanding of consumer interests.
"Our goal is to be the global platform that enables businesses to have meaningful interactions with their customers on the go – whether that is to make them aware of purchase opportunities or to provide post-sale customer service," said Cotney. "Every transition has its pain points, but market feedback on the work we are doing on our new Engage product tells us that this is the right time to increase our focus on a more robust set of services for brands to evolve their customer relationships beyond the web to mobile. Our most important project is the integration of Engage's rich feature set with our messaging delivery strength."
Robert Abbott, General Partner at Norwest Venture Partners notes, "Today more than ever, mobility provides consumers added convenience and control over their discretionary dollars. The convergence of mBlox’s push and messaging platforms, along with the power of mBlox Engage, enables enterprises to contextualize relationships with consumers. This creates an even more expansive market opportunity for the company.”
