Eltek, the world leader in high efficiency power systems for telecommunications, industrial applications and renewable energy projects, announced it has been awarded a high-profile contract to be a major provider of DC power systems and outdoor cabinets for a 2G/3G wireless network expansion project in Brazil.
The two-year project, valued at USD $4 million, is scheduled for completion in Dec. 2014. The network will be powered by Eltek’s Flatpack2 High-Efficiency (HE) DC rectifiers housed in Eltek’s outdoor cabinets. Eltek’s HE technology was selected because it saves money and conserves energy in line with Brazil’s strong recognition of sustainable business practices.
The major carrier sponsoring the project is expanding its network across Brazil to extend coverage and provide better customer service.
Eltek’s Flatpack2 HE system delivers up to 96.5 percent power conversion efficiency. Designed with horizontal front-to-back airflow and chassis-integrated heat sinks, Flatpack2 HE units can be stacked on top of one another inside the cabinets. Wasted energy is reduced by 50 percent, decreasing both cooling and operational costs.
“This installation in Brazil is important for Eltek because it is a high-profile opportunity to show that Eltek Brazil has the technical capabilities to meet advanced customer specifications all across the country,” said Alvaro Oliveira, Eltek Superintendent Director for South America. “Our customer likes the flexibility, efficiency and reliability of the Eltek power system, and they appreciate the dedicated service and support that we deliver.”
