MORGANVILLE, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 01/23/13 -- Vytran, an innovative supplier of optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, will show a full suite of its high-performance optical fiber processing equipment at the Photonics West 2013 exhibition (booth #411) and at the associated BiOS Expo (booth #8411). The Photonics West exhibition is scheduled for February 5-7; the BiOS Expo from February 2-3, 2013, at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
"Photonics West and BiOS are an ideal platform for Vytran to show a full complement of products for use in producing fiber lasers, medical devices, sensing tools, and others," said Jean-Michel Pelaprat, Vytran president and CEO. "Our unique equipment allows development and manufacture of the high-quality splices, fiber terminations, fiber probes, and other fused-fiber components critical in these applications. We invite attendees to see demos of our broad portfolio, including our newest splicer, the CAS-4100, which is tailored for cost-effective, high-volume, automated manufacturing."
Vytran will feature several products aimed at fused-fiber component development and manufacturing. For example, the company plans to demonstrate its versatile GPX-3600 optical fiber processor. GPX-3600 is designed to create splices, combiners, tapers, couplers, end caps, ball lenses and other fused components on optical fibers with diameters as large as 2 mm. The company will also demonstrate its LDC-400 fiber cleaver and show an LFS-4000 fiber splicer.
Vytran also plans to demonstrate its CAS-4100-P splicer. CAS-4000 Series products splice standard and specialty fibers from 50 microns in diameter. CAS systems are very compact with a small footprint ideal for limited-space settings. CAS splicers are equipped with user-friendly One Step Splice process software and with E-Splice technology to allow remote operation and monitoring plus data export for statistical process control.
In addition, the company will demonstrate its unique FAS system -- the world's only fully automated splicing workstation that includes all process steps from fiber stripping to recoating and testing. Vytran will also display another all-in-one splicing workstation and a selection of stand-alone tools for processes such as fiber stripping, cleaving, recoating and proof testing.
Additionally, Vytran staff members will give presentations during the Photonics West conference. Dr. Giorgio Giaretta, vice president of research and development, will present "E-Splice -- A Novel Technology for Embedding Splicing Equipment in the Modern Integrated Manufacturing Line" on Thursday, February 7th at 11:30 am in Demo Area 2 (North Hall D). Dr. Sam Ghalmi, senior engineer, will present "All-Fiber Probes for Medical Imaging and Delivery Applications" on Saturday, February 2nd at 12:30 pm in the BiOS Demo Area.
Vytran's director of technology, Dr. Baishi Wang, will teach the course "Splicing of Specialty Fibers and Glass Processing of Fused Fiber Components for Fiber Lasers." The course is scheduled for February 3rd at 8:30 am.
