Gemalto facilita el lanzamiento de la primera red móvil 4G del Reino Unido

Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), líder mundial en seguridad digital, anuncia que suministrará sus SIM UpTeq LTE y aplicaciones de software integrado a EE, la compañía de comunicaciones más avanzada del Reino Unido, para agilizar el lanzamiento de la primera red móvil 4G del Reino Unido.

EE, emprendimiento conjunto de France Telecom y Deutsche Telekom en el Reino Unido, es el primer operador de telefonía móvil del Reino Unido en lanzar una red 4G, disponible bajo la marca EE de la empresa. El servicio 4G de EE ya está activo en 18 ciudades y pueblos en todo el Reino Unido; además se incluirán otras 17 localidades para fines de marzo de 2013 y se estima que la cobertura alcanzará al 98% de la población del Reino Unido hacia fines de 2014.

En esta primera implementación de LTE a gran escala en Europa, UpTeq LTE de Gemalto cumple una función fundamental porque ayuda a EE a superar los desafíos comerciales y técnicos de las redes 4G. De este modo, los clientes pueden aprovechar al máximo el potencial de sus dispositivos móviles cuando navegan por Internet y disfrutar de servicios con multiplicidad de datos de manera segura, incluyendo videos de alta definición, televisión en vivo, música y juegos para varios usuarios.
