Government departments can now purchase Mastek services and solutions from the cloud in a timely and efficient manner
Mastek, the global provider of enterprise-level technology services and software solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a framework agreement on the Government Procurement Services (GPS) G-Cloud II portal. The G-Cloud was launched in February 2012 and aims to encourage the public sector to embrace new technologies purchased from a wider range of suppliers within the marketplace. To be accepted onto the G-Cloud, Mastek was required to submit various documentation, including a capability response, technical details for each of its services and insight into the benefits that these different solutions can deliver.
By having greater visibility into the capability of solutions, organisations can consider those services that meet the needs of organisations in a quick and efficient manner. The UK government currently plans to funnel 50 percent of all new IT spend through the CloudStore by 2015, to help stimulate the market and increase competition among service providers. As the public sector comes under pressure to reduce spending, government organisations are recognising that new technology investments may help reduce the timeframes associated with service delivery, improve operational efficiency and reduce future expenditure.
Elwyn Jones, Senior Vice President and Head of the Government and Health Practice at Mastek, comments on the significance of this latest announcement: "Being accepted on to the G-Cloud recognises the strength of our service offerings to the public sector. The G-cloud has revolutionised the process of procuring key services in the UK's public sector by providing organisations with a carefully vetted list of suppliers qualified for delivering certain products and services."
Jones continues: "Where organisations have a clear understanding of their requirements, the G-Cloud is being promoted as the primary framework for achieving a straightforward procurement process. Departments within local and central governments can now easily identify potential suppliers based on a pre-agreed framework contract and a set price for the services that they need. This approach simplifies the buying process, shortens potentially lengthy contract negotiations, reduces costs and helps public sector organisations take advantage of new cloud-based solutions."
The Mastek services that are currently available on the G-Cloud are: Agile Management & Development Services, Business Analysis Services, Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing, Integrated Testing Services, Service Integration and System Integration Services. Clients are not required to run a full procurement or complete a lengthy competitive assessment to take advantage of these services within their organisations.
