Intelsat nomme Grant Marais vice-président régional du département des ventes en Afrique

La société Intelsat SA, premier fournisseur mondial de services par satellite, a annoncé aujourd'hui que M. Grant Marais a été nommé vice-président régional du département des ventes en Afrique. La décision sera mise en vigueur à partie du 3 janvier 2013.

Marais sera responsable du soutien de la croissance des clients d'Intelsat dans la région, qui comprend les opérateurs mobiles et de télécommunications de premier plan, les fournisseurs de services de réseaux, les opérateurs de plates-formes des satellites de radiodiffusion directes (SRD) et les diffuseurs. Intelsat offre à ces clients l'infrastructure essentielle des communications, dont les 23 satellites qui servent la région et l’Intelsat Epic NG, la plate-forme de satellite à grand débit, qui devrait être lancée en 2015.

Kurt Riegelman, vice-président supérieur des ventes internationales chez Intelsat a déclaré : «Grâce à ses nombreuses années d'expérience en Afrique, Grant est conscient des besoins de nos clients à travers le continent pour s’accroître et réussir. La vision des communications africaine continue d'être l'une des plus dynamiques au monde, et j’en suis sûr et certain que Grant aidera Intelsat à développer sa présence dans la région».

Marais rejoint Intelsat après avoir été membre dans la société Nokia à Dubaï, où il a été directeur général du secteur des ventes pour le Moyen-Orient, l’Afrique et la Communauté des États Indépendants. Chez Nokia, il a supervisé les efforts déployés par le secteur des ventes de l'entreprise en Afrique du Sud et a résidé au Mozambique. Avant cela, il a servi en Ouganda en tant que directeur commercial pour Simba Telecom.

Marais a succédé Jon Osler, qui rejoindra à son tour l'équipe de la comptabilité mondiale chez Intelsat à Washington.
