- Silicon Valley cloud-based communications startup bridges telco and developer worlds to connect mobile consumers throughout the world with "rich communication" apps
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California and LONDON, Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jibe Mobile (www.jibemobile.com), a Silicon Valley cloud-based global communications provider, today announced that it has closed $8.3 million in financing with investments by Vodafone Ventures (the U.S. investment arm of Vodafone Group), Tokyo-based game creator MTI, and other investors. The investment will help Jibe to continue bridging the world of standards-based communications and agile Silicon-Valley application development to connect consumers around the world via the next generation of "rich communications" – video chat, real-time gaming, and other innovations – regardless of their location, mobile device or telecommunications plan.

Jibe will continue developing the world's first open technology platform leveraging the most advanced telecom industry standards — including GSMA joyn™ and RCS 5 — and enhance its open APIs enabling developers to rapidly incorporate real-time, 'rich communications' into mobile applications.
"There is no doubt that rich communications is becoming an increasingly important part of the consumer mobile experience. Jibe's mission is to make carrier-grade communications simple and accessible for the global market," said Jibe co-founder and CEO Amir Sarhangi. "In-app communication increases user engagement and creates new monetization opportunities for developers. The investments from Vodafone and MTI will help us continue to innovate and extend our platform. We look forward to the next stage and ongoing strong partnerships with our expanding carrier and developer networks."
Jibe's technology provides an all-important link for developers to easily unleash new rich capabilities for consumer and business driven mobile applications. The Jibe Mobile Developer Portal and App-to-App Platform SDK gives application developers the tools to infuse their applications with real-time app-to-app and multi-user capabilities. Jibe's app-to-app platform will allow developers — with just a few lines of code — to incorporate powerful real-time in-app rich communications into new 'carrier grade' mobile applications for such areas as multi-player games, distance learning, remote diagnosis and health care, customer care, sales and service, and enterprise collaboration. With joyn at the core, developers' apps will be future-proofed as carriers innovate their networks.
