The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) proudly announces its first event of 2013. “Walt Mossberg: Live and Unplugged,” with presenting sponsor Lenovo, will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Umstead Hotel in Cary, N.C. Mossberg will share his insights on the Post-PC Era, highlighting a number of technology topics including cloud computing’s impact on consumers, future tech gadgets and the convergence of telecom, wireless and the Internet.
“North Carolina is excited to welcome one of the leading consumer technology thinkers of our time,” said Brooks Raiford, NCTA’s President & CEO. “As our industry moves from the traditional PC and native software world, it’s important to have leaders provide insight on the future of this market. “Our state’s vibrant tech sector has strong history of innovation, and is both a producer of and a magnet for highly skilled workers. Walt’s visit will be of great interest to our community,” said Raiford.
Walt Mossberg is uniquely qualified to address the future of technology. He is the creator and contributor of “Mossberg’s Personal Technology,” that has appeared every Thursday in The Wall Street Journal since 1991. He has received a number of awards, including the Loeb award for Commentary and the World Technology Award for Media and Journalism. He has also interviewed top technology leaders such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. In partnership with prominent blogger and author Kara Swisher, Mossberg is the co-creator of the prestigious annual technology conference, D: All Things Digital, and is the co-executive editor of the technology web site, allthingsd.com.
Other sponsors Google, Republic Wireless and Wyrick Robbins. Table sponsors include Allscripts, LexisNexis, Railinc and Salesforce. The Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is partnering with NCTA to identify six of North Carolina’s consumer technology start-ups in a consumer tech showcase, where companies such as Gema Touch, INRFOOD, Sqord and Valencell will be featured.
The event is expected to sell out. For more information and to register, visit www.NCTechnology.org. Individual registration is $50 for NCTA and CED members and $75 for nonmembers. CED Members must call NCTA (919-856-0393) to register at the member rate.
