FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 1,500 children will enjoy a happier holiday thanks to a $50,000 Toys for Tots donation from RadioShack, a leading national retailer of innovative technology products, services and accessories.
"Every child deserves a special gift under the tree for Christmas. RadioShack is proud to support DFW Toys for Tots to make that possible for almost 1,500 of our neighbors," said Dorvin Lively, RadioShack's chief executive officer. "Just as the holidays are about giving and sharing family traditions, RadioShack's donation this year honors a long corporate family tradition of making the hottest interactive toys and radio-control vehicles available for all of Santa's helpers."
"Thanks to RadioShack's generous donation of exciting RC vehicles and interactive dragons, Christmas will be quite a bit merrier for many children," said Gunnery Sergeant Jay Lenoir, campaign coordinator for DFW Toys for Tots. "In many cases, donated toys will be the only gifts for these needy families. We're delighted to welcome RadioShack as a partner in delivering hope to underprivileged youth this holiday season."
DFW Toys for Tots aims to make Christmas gifts available to approximately 240,000 children in 14 DFW-area counties during the 2012 toy drive, with a goal of offering two or three toys per child. There's still time for you to participate. For more details about the community collection event at Sundance Square and how you can donate to DFW Toys for Tots, visit dfwtoysfortots.org.
Building on its leadership as the tech toy and RC holiday headquarters since 1981, the Company will donate scores of RadioShack-exclusive RC Ford Mustangs (1:15), Twin Turbine RC Planes and Night Thunder 1:12 Scale RC Cars as well as iloveRobots® Skylee dragons.
Join RadioShack volunteers who will demonstrate the toys that will be donated to deserving families during the DFW Toys for Tots community collection event on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Fort Worth's Sundance Square.
