Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/2dnpsz/global_wavelength) has announced the addition of the "Global Wavelength Select Switch Market 2011-2015" report to their offering.
One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is the increasing deployment of 3G and LTE networks. The Global Wavelength Select Switch market has also been witnessing the increasing use of 50 GHz wavelength select switches. However, the, market contraction due to demand-supply mismatch could pose a challenge to the growth of this market.
The key vendors dominating this market space are Finisar Corp., JDSU Uniphase Corp., CoAdna, Photonics Inc., and Nistica Inc.
The other vendors mentioned in the report are ADVA Optical Networking Inc., Avanex System Ltd., and Oclaro Inc.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from TechNavio's Networking team said: ''In order to decrease the manufacturing cost of network equipment and its subsequent rollout, most optical network providers, internet service providers (ISPs), and equipment manufacturers are demanding tighter channel spacing wavelength select switches. Hence, several wavelength select switch manufacturers are shifting from 100 GHz to 50 GHz channel spacing wavelength select switches. As a result, the fiber capacity is being doubled and these networks are becoming more compatible with the cutting-edge wavelength division multiplexing solution. Thus, the increasing use of 50 GHz wavelength select switches is an emerging trend in the Global Wavelength Select Switch market.''
According to the report, one of the major drivers is the increasing deployment of 3G and long-term evolution (LTE) networks. Most of the telecom network providers are using optical fiber cables for the 3G or LTE network backhaul. These optical network providers are procuring wavelength select switches to enhance the efficiencies of multiplexing and de-multiplexing of the fiber optics networks.
Further, the report reveals that the global economic slowdown has had an adverse impact on the Global Wavelength Select Switch market.
