"We are excited to be offering this innovative telecommunication service platform to our global base of buyers. The components of this IP package are relevant to telecom or network service providers wishing to provide the next generation of efficient and cost-effective, possibly free, services to their customers," says Dean Becker, CEO of ICAP Patent Brokerage.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
This portfolio discloses telecommunication services that unify different communication mediums such as IM Chat, Mobility, VoIP, PSTN, and SMS. In conventional telecom services, a caller makes a decision about which communication medium to use to contact a recipient. If the call fails, the caller has to manually select an alternate mode of communication. There are certain telecom services that may automatically transfer a voice call to alternate phone numbers according to a user-specified list. However, these service providers usually charge a subscription fee for using such services. Also, these services only operate on the voice lines of service providers and alternate communication mediums such as text, chat, or email are not included in these services.
The improved telecom service for sale provides a solution to conventional system shortfalls by automatically selecting an appropriate medium for establishing communication. Through this innovative platform, an intermediate point is provided in an access network through which a user can contact a remote party via one of multiple optional communication paths. A low cost communication path is then determined by this intermediate point to establish communication between the user and the remote party. Therefore, a user is not required to manually select an appropriate communication path.
Further, the service delivery platform is coupled with a business model for generating revenue or cost-offsetting based on targeted media advertisement during communication initiation. A central registration database is maintained to store user profiles having information, such as location, preferences, demographics, etc., for providing advertisements to users during the ring back cycle. The subscriber database provides the functionality of a unified contact management center with the ability to maintain contact information, which would normally be maintained through separate directories or buddy lists or social networking circles. The service provider platform can be deployed at the boundary of an access provider network at the point a subscriber might otherwise incur costs for the completion of a communication. Therefore, a service provider utilizing the IP in this portfolio may provide cheaper or free of cost service to users.
