READING, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 11/12/12 -- Trillium Software®, a business of Harte-Hanks, Inc. (NYSE: HHS) and a leading provider of Total Data Quality solutions, today announced its sponsorship of data management education at Cardiff University's School of Computer Science & Informatics, and presented an award to one of its students.
The data governance modules of the Computing degree course are being presented by Nigel Turner, vice president of information management strategy at Trillium Software and visiting lecturer at Cardiff University. Turner, an acknowledged industry expert in data governance and data quality, formerly led an information management team of more than 200 people at British Telecom plc (BT), and sat on the board of BT Wales.
Ed Wrazen, vice president of marketing international at Trillium Software, presented the Trillium Software Award to Rhys Batcup for submitting the best coursework assignment on the data governance module of the business strategy & information systems section of the course.
"The Cardiff School of Computer Science & Informatics holds its annual prize-giving event to recognise and reward students across all year groups who have performed exceptionally well during the past academic year," said Professor Roger Whitaker, head of School. "The School gratefully acknowledges the sponsorship of companies within the industry, which not only makes the award ceremony possible, but also provides students with great opportunities to build links and look forward to possible opportunities upon graduation."
Trillium Software has also provided the School with training and access to its world leading data quality software for use by its staff and students. This enables the faculty to gain hands-on experience in commercial data quality and data management software used by many leading companies around the world.
"As well as supporting data management education at Cardiff University through student awards and visiting lectures from one of our own experts, we have also gained a commitment from a number of our customers to deliver lectures to computing students at the university," said Wrazen. "The School of Computer Science & Informatics offers an excellent foundation in data management and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the university to further education in this essential business discipline."
