CARTES 2012–The prestigious 2012 SESAMES Innovation Award in the identification/ID cards/health category has been awarded to INSIDE Secure’s partner, Sunward Telecom for their NFC-in-a-SIM solution, powered by the new PicoPulse™ “booster” chip and VaultSEcure secure element from INSIDE Secure.
Using the INSIDE Secure chips, Sunward Telecom was able to place, all the components for an NFC card emulation and peer-to-peer mode solution, including the antenna, in the SIM card of any non-NFC device. It enables mobile network operators to more broadly deploy NFC services and makes it easy for their existing customers to use NFC functionality with their existing device, without the need to purchase a new phone or other alternative NFC device.
“We congratulate Sunward Telecom for their achievement in winning this SESAMES award and are proud to have contributed to this success thanks to our groundbreaking NFC technologies SIM solution,” said Rémy de Tonnac, CEO of INSIDE Secure. “With PicoPulse and VaultSEcure, INSIDE Secure confirms once again its leadership in offering pioneer NFC solutions to its clients.”
The SESAMES Awards are presented each year in conjunction with the CARTES exhibition and conference and represent an unrivalled seal of approval in innovation and are regarded as global standards in the fields of smart cards, digital security, identification, secure transactions and contactless technologies.
The INSIDE Secure PicoPulse chip significantly reduces the effects of the metals and electrical noise typically found within mobile phones and other mobile devices, enabling the INSIDE solution to use an antenna that measures 10 x 5 mm, yet still achieve industry-standard transaction performance, even when the SIM card is inserted in devices under or beside the battery. The VaultSEcure chip is EMVCo IC certified and Common Criteria EAL5+ targeted.
