SPIRIT DSP, the world's #1 voice and video over IP engines provider serving more than 1 billion users in 100+ countries, has announced today that Korean service provider, LG U+, a subsidiary of LG Group, has selected SPIRIT’s TeamSpirit® Voice&Video Engine Mobile to power a new video calling service. LG U+ is the third largest carrier in South Korea.

The new LG U+ service enables subscribers to make voice and video calls using Samsung Galaxy Player. LG U+ offers its subscribers media players with special preinstalled application. Video calls from media player to another Galaxy Player or cell phones are powered by TeamSpirit Voice & Video Engine Mobile, which allows LG U+ to provide crystal-clear HD video quality. The new service based on Samsung Galaxy Player has become popular among LG U+ subscribers. SPIRIT experts expect that LG U+, which serves millions of landline phone users, will soon have 500,000 subscribers of its new service.

"LG U+, with its core approach of differentiation in technology innovative, is a long-standing SPIRIT customer who has come to rely on our technology to provide high quality VVoIP services to its subscribers,” said SPIRIT's VP Alex Kravchenko. “This well-timed launch of this new service will help LG U+ bring in new subscribers and avoid loss of revenue resulting from subscribers switching to OTT providers like Skype and Google. We’re pleased that SPIRIT products allow our operator customers to offer competitive solutions and hold their leadership positions in this rapidly changing telecommunications market.”

LG U+ already uses SPIRIT's TeamSpirit Voice&Video Engine to provide top quality voice and video communication in its U+070 Mobile service. The IoT market is projected to be $1.9 trillion tidal wave that’s bigger than the combined market for smartphones, tablets and PCs. While IoT is widely discussed, what not being talked about are the monetization opportunities that are created from ubiquitous connectivity and the ensuing avalanche of data. While we cannot foresee every service that the IoT will enable, we should future-proof operations by preparing to monetize them with extremely agile systems.
There’s Big Data, then there’s really Big Data from the Internet of Things. IoT is evolving to include many data possibilities like new types of event, log and network data. The volumes are enormous, generating tens of billions of logs per day, which raise data challenges. Early IoT deployments are relying heavily on both the cloud and managed service providers to navigate these challenges. Learn about IoT, Big Data and deployments processing massive data volumes from wearables, utilities and other machines.

The major cloud platforms defy a simple, side-by-side analysis. Each of the major IaaS public-cloud platforms offers their own unique strengths and functionality. Options for on-site private cloud are diverse as well, and must be designed and deployed while taking existing legacy architecture and infrastructure into account. Then the reality is that most enterprises are embarking on a hybrid cloud strategy and programs. In this Power Panel at 15th Cloud Expo (http://www.CloudComputingExpo.com), moderated by Ashar Baig, Research Director, Cloud, at Gigaom Research, Nate Gordon, Director of T...
