PARIS -- (Marketwire) -- 11/05/12 -- Next week at Equip'Hotel in Paris, Nomadix, innovator and pioneer of public access gateways, and MCOM Media Communications, a leading IT and in-room entertainment solutions provider, will address how the European hospitality industry can better allocate existing bandwidth to increase their management and monetization of network access. Located in MCOM's booth at Hall 2, Stand D62, Nomadix and MCOM will provide demonstrations and application examples of how hotels, restaurants and other venues can leverage network access for a competitive edge and increased customer satisfaction.
With the explosion of Wi-Fi-enabled devices and the BYOD (bring your own device) movement, hotels of all sizes are struggling to keep up with the exabytes of data crossing their networks. The resulting increase in bandwidth consumption by guests is changing the way in which hotels manage their public and private Internet access networks, forcing them to seek alternative solutions that help them squeeze more performance out of their existing bandwidth.
Nomadix has heard from IT specialists and public access providers across the continent about the breadth of bandwidth management challenges, and recently conducted a series of educational seminars throughout Europe to address this issue. MCOM, a well established Nomadix partner, concurs that the impact of mobile devices by guests on host networks is a top priority for leading organizations. In response, MCOM has integrated Nomadix access gateways in their HOTstream MultiScreen platform, which offers bundled IPTV, VOD, HSIA and Hotel Interactive services to guests' mobiles devices as well as in-room TVs.
"With the additional bandwidth demands being placed upon hotels, it becomes vital for them to embrace tools that will help them do more with the network that's already in place," said Fred Reeder, chief commercial and operating officer of Nomadix. "Better bandwidth control also allows hotels to more efficiently manage their tiered affinity guest programs that offer higher bandwidth access to premium users."
Nomadix offers two key products to address these bandwidth challenges. The AG 5800 is a high-performance access gateway that enables a fast, seamless extension of a wired or Wi-Fi network to create a secure, public Internet access network. The Nomadix Internet Traffic Optimizer (NITO) is a powerful appliance designed to boost existing bandwidth that also offers insight for intelligent bandwidth management/allocation and has extensive reporting capabilities. When paired together, the AG 5800 and NITO ensure fair and fast bandwidth for public access to keep Internet traffic flowing, leading to an improved user experience.
As a leading IT solutions provider and Nomadix partner, MCOM is noted for their expertise in integrating technology products for the hospitality industry, offering hotels a complete solution. Commented Dimitris Petinos, VP marketing & international sales at MCOM, "The AG 5800 and NITO products from Nomadix enable hotels to first gain insight into how the network is being used, then throttle traffic accordingly to ensure that all users get fair, quality access through a secure network that can efficiently adapt to each mobile device. These products are seamlessly integrated in our HOTstream Internet solution offering support for multiple portals, last name/room number login, device roaming, in-room silent login, multiple devices per ticket and many other advanced HSIA features."
