Polatis to Demonstrate 192x192 All-Optical Switch at ECOC 2012

ANDOVER, MA and CAMBRIDGE, UK - September 11, 2012 - Polatis, Inc. the performance leader in all-optical switch technology today announced that it will be demonstrating its latest Series 6000 192x192 all-optical switch for the first time in Europe during the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) from 17 to 19 September 2012 on stand 700 at the Amsterdam RAI.

The Series 6000 optical matrix switch was released to the market earlier this year and is a fully non-blocking, singlemode fibre all-optical matrix switch with up to 192x192 ports and a typical loss of less than 1dB. Following its successful launch, the Series 6000 is now being shipped to major customers within government, telecom and datacentre applications and the company is currently experiencing a healthy backlog of orders for this product.

"We are delighted to be demonstrating the Series 6000 at ECOC 2012," said Gerald Wesel, CEO of Polatis, Inc. "Since its launch, we have had considerable demand for the Series 6000 from both current customers and new prospects, who appreciate the unique combination of high optical performance and reliability with a larger matrix size. The Series 6000 is now being deployed in the most challenging applications as the benchmark for all-optical switching."

All of Polatis' all-optical switches are based on the company's patented DirectLight beam-steering technology which makes optical connections entirely independent of the colour, direction or power level of light on the fibre and so enables switching of dark fibre as well as high power and bi-directional traffic for mission-critical Government, Telecom, Datacentre and Video applications.

Government agencies use Polatis DirectLight switches to secure, manage, provision and maintain their communications networks. Polatis provides the ability to meet critical requirements to reroute signals without degrading the physical layer infrastructure, with very low insertion loss, crosstalk and back reflection.

Telecom and Datacentre architects are working on innovative designs using optical switches to handle the explosive growth in traffic to support new and emerging video and cloud based services. Polatis DirectLight switches are ideally suited for use in telecom networks and datacentres as they meet the stringent performance and reliability requirements of these applications with exceptionally low loss, fast switching and low power consumption in a compact rack-mount chassis.

Visit Polatis at ECOC on stand 700 to see the Polatis Series 1000 and 2000 all-optical switches being demonstrated, with port counts now ranging from 4x4 to 192x192. If you would like to arrange a meeting with the Polatis team of experts, please contact [email protected]
