Signature Launches to Make the Retail Experience Personal and Mobile

Secures $1.1M in Seed Funding From Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Amicus Capital, Triangle Peak Partners, Don Hutchison, and Dave Pell

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/26/12 -- Signature Labs, Inc. ("Signature") launches today, making retail personal again by delivering VIP treatment to shoppers, both in and out of store. The Signature mobile app is the ultimate personal shopping assistant, delivering to customers' mobile devices a curated shopping experience, with up-to-date product information, and delivering the ultimate customer service experience. For retailers, Signature enables sales associates to build deeper relationships with customers by giving them a simple, intuitive app to access customer information and product catalogues at their fingertips.

Signature is available for iPhone in the iTunes App Store. Retailers can request access to the platform at [email protected].

The Signature experience includes:

  • Notifications via mobile phone around shopping events and information such as updates on preferred items and brands, or when new arrivals hit the floor.
  • An in-store greeting with a summary of what's new, the latest fashions on the floor, and any relevant sales or events.
  • Real-time visibility into when preferred sales associates are in-store, along with the ability to make appointments and leave messages for associates.
  • Personal, one-on-one service: sales associates will tailor the shopping experience to shoppers' preferences, favorites, and sizes.

The Signature platform represents a massive opportunity for retailers to increase in-store engagement and conversion. Signature has signed a handful of top retailers as paying customers and Advisory Board members. The Company is rolling out pilot deployments nationwide, and plans to launch publicly with marquee retailers in Spring, 2012.

"The key to an exceptional retail experience is personal and differentiated service -- delighted customers return more often and spend more in the store," said David Hegarty, founder and CEO. "Much like the Apple Store has set the benchmark for the in-store retail experience, Signature delivers a similar mobile shopping experience drawing on unparalleled personalization, and over-the-top customer service. By using mobile apps to re-imagine the personal touch, Signature sets a new benchmark for retail customer service."

"The Signature platform represents the Holy Grail for retailers -- it's a mobile solution built to engage aspirational and high-potential customers on their own terms. This has never been possible in an offline environment. Sophisticated retailers realize that re-inventing the physical store experience for the mobile age and increasing sales associate efficiency are critical to their success," said Josh Stein, Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson. "We invested in Signature because they have the team and the technology in place to define the mobile retail experience."

Signature has closed $1.1M in seed funding from notable investors such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Triangle Peak Partners, Amicus Capital, Don Hutchison, and Dave Pell. The round closed in May 2011.

Blockchain is a new buzzword that promises to revolutionize the way we manage data. If the data is stored in a blockchain there is no need for a middleman - the distributed database is stored on multiple and there is no need to have a centralized server that will ensure that the transactions can be trusted. The best way to understand how a blockchain works is to build one. During this presentation, we'll start with covering the basics (hash, nounce, block, smart contracts) and then we'll crea...

As the fourth industrial revolution continues to march forward, key questions remain related to the protection of software, cloud, AI, and automation intellectual property. Recent developments in Supreme Court and lower court case law will be reviewed to explain the intricacies of what inventions are eligible for patent protection, how copyright law may be used to protect application programming interfaces (APIs), and the extent to which trademark and trade secret law may have expanded relev...
Never mind that we might not know what the future holds for cryptocurrencies and how much values will fluctuate or even how the process of mining a coin could cost as much as the value of the coin itself - cryptocurrency mining is a hot industry and shows no signs of slowing down. However, energy consumption to mine cryptocurrency is one of the biggest issues facing this industry. Burning huge amounts of electricity isn't incidental to cryptocurrency, it's basically embedded in the core of "mini...

Where many organizations get into trouble, however, is that they try to have a broad and deep knowledge in each of these areas. This is a huge blow to an organization's productivity. By automating or outsourcing some of these pieces, such as databases, infrastructure, and networks, your team can instead focus on development, testing, and deployment. Further, organizations that focus their attention on these areas can eventually move to a test-driven development structure that condenses several l...
