PEER 1 Hosting to power up on people in 2012

Fast-growth global hosting provider to double UK staff in twelve months

Southampton, UK, 23 January 2012: PEER 1 Hosting, one of the world's leading IT hosting companies, today unveiled a new recruitment drive to expand its UK team, taking its current headcount from 30 to 60 in twelve months.

The company has had 100% year-on-year growth since it launched in the UK in 2009 and has recently opened a £45m custom-built flagship datacenter in Portsmouth.

PEER 1 Hosting, based in Southampton, is going against the trend of cutbacks. During the recent recession it has purposely continued to recruit talented teams with a pathological commitment to outstanding service. The latest recruitment drive will see PEER 1 Hosting hire 30 of the UK's best graduates into IT sales and technical support roles and expand into new office space in 2012 to support the growth.

The company, well known for its innovative recruitment methods, has already hired an internal recruiter to lead the drive. Having built and internal golf course last year, they will be testing the skills of would-be staff over a round of pitch 'n' putt as candidates are tested on a wide range of skills including multitasking, planning, adaptability and winning mentality.

"For every 100 CVs we receive, we hire one talented individual which means that candidates need to stand out as we only employ the best of the best" says Dominic Monkhouse, EMEA MD at PEER 1 Hosting. "Recruiting and retaining quality staff is the single biggest factor behind the unprecedented growth the business has seen in our first three years. Customers want to buy award-winning service and only brilliant staff can deliver the superior care factor to make that happen. It's another example of why PEER 1 Hosting is a world-class hosting provider; not least because our global infrastructure beats competitors hands-down, but also because we have the UK's brightest people to make it count for customers."

Gary Sherlock, Executive VP and CFO at PEER 1 Hosting adds: "Ensuring the very best teams are in place will allow us to put further distance between the quality of our service proposition and our competitors, and we're seeing the growth that proves we're delivering what customers want."

While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jim Frey, Vice President of S...

The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound e...
The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
