AOTMP REPORT: Research Shows That Enterprises Can Reduce Wireless Expenses by More Than 20 Percent With an Effective, Enforced Policy

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 08/15/11 -- AOTMP today announced the release of its latest report titled "Enterprise Performance Series: Policy, Governance and Security." Representing findings from 181 enterprise professionals across 22 different industries nationwide, the new report details the significance -- and potential business outcomes -- of having an effective wireless policy in place. Uncovering the latest performance trends, the study shows that enterprises have experienced an average of 21 percent savings in wireless expenses by developing, monitoring compliance of and enforcing policy.

AOTMP research indicates that 81 percent of all enterprises have established a formal wireless policy, yet only 28 percent of them feel that it is completely effective. Many enterprises see major opportunities to improve its effectiveness in terms of addressing company objectives, employee liable devices, and security concerns.

"Wireless expenses account for 35 percent of a company's total telecom spend. That percentage will continue to grow into the foreseeable future," says Timothy C. Colwell, senior vice president of global performance management at AOTMP. "With more and more Smart Devices and mobile applications being managed, enterprises must think broadly about their wireless policies to avoid damaging consequences and lost dollars."

AOTMP's report provides perspective and benchmarks for managing policy, governance and security, providing organizations with answers to key questions, including:

  • How often are other enterprises updating their policy?
  • How many enterprise wireless devices are lost or stolen each year?
  • What percentage of wireless users are in non-compliance with enterprise security protocols?
