Tokyo, Feb 25, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC), a global leader in networking, communications and information technology announced plans today to reorganize its structure as of April 1, 2010 in order to achieve its mid-term "V2012 -Beyond boundaries, Toward our Vision-" plan, a milestone towards reaching NEC's group vision 2017.
Details on the reorganization are as follows:
1.Expansion of the IT and Network solutions business - Establishment of a Platform Business Unit -In order to expand the "C&C Cloud Strategy," a Platform Business Unit will be formed by merging the IT Platform Business Unit and Enterprise Communications Solutions Operations Unit. By merging the IT platform business and enterprise communications business, cloud computing infrastructure will be combined into one business unit and NEC will offer globally competitive products and software that integrate IT and networks.
Furthermore, NEC offers an integrated IT and network platform that is interoperable with the Carrier Network Business Unit and the development of integrated IT and network operations management / monitoring systems.
2.Expansion of global business -Reinforcing the regional sales organization of the International Sales and Operations Business Unit -In order to strengthen sales activities in Greater China and APAC markets, where considerable future growth is expected, an independent Greater China and Asia Pacific Sales Division will be established separate sales organization from the International Sales Division.
North, Latin America and EMEA Sales Division will cover the Americas, Europe, Middle East and African markets, all of which hold a large existing customer base. NEC will reinforce its competencies in each market and accelerate development ofsolutions locally. NEC will accelerate its international business, including strengthening its promotions in emerging markets, by creating the most relevant solutions, centered on public safety business in Asia and cloud services for telecom carriers in Europe and Latin America.
3.Expansion of environmental and energy business - Establishment of a Smart Energy and Green Business Operations Unit -This newly established Smart Energy and Green Business Operations Unit consists of a Smart Energy and Green Business Development Division and a Smart Energy Products Division. They will be directly managed by top executives, and focused on the development and promotion of new environmental and energy businesses, including non automotive batterybusiness and smart grid related business, such as electricity storage core batteries and accelerating electrodes for high-performance lithium ion car batteries.
NEC will further accelerate its environment and energy business through its newly established company, NEC Energy Device Ltd. (Announced on February 10, 2010), on April 1, 2010.
Through this reorganization and the rise of cloud services, NEC will expand its business and advance the C&C cloud strategy. Furthermore, NEC will strengthen its earnings structure through customer oriented solutions based on the integration of "IT" and "Networks" as it aims to achieve the NEC's group vision 2017.
