SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/02/10 -- Tilera® Corporation, developer of the breakthrough TILE family of high-performance multicore processors, today announced that it has opened a branch office in Yokohama, Japan that will handle sales and support of Tilera products. Moreover, this new office will be spearheaded by seasoned enterprise computing professional Yoichi Ishige.
"Opening an office and hiring Mr. Ishige is a key step in our vision of deploying Tilera's advanced Tile processors across multiple vertical markets such as networking, wireless, multimedia infrastructure, and cloud computing," said Omid Tahernia, Tilera's President and CEO. "We already have a number of important engagements in Japan that are bearing fruit, and the recently announced strategic investment in Tilera by NTT Finance is evidence of the compelling value that Tilera offers."
Tilera's Japan Country Manager, Mr. Ishige, has previously served in various sales management, marketing and business development roles at Macnica, Inc., one of the world's largest full-service manufacturers' representative companies. In a prior position, Ishige managed the opening of Macnica's Europe offices, including strategic planning, running the distribution business and revenue generation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Nihon University.
In Japan, there are a number of leading OEMs building products that require higher levels of compute and scalability than is available from other processor vendors. Tilera offers a range of multicore processors with significant performance and power efficiency advantages for both infrastructure equipment and endpoint systems. Tilera processors are used across multiple applications including network security, intrusion prevention, network monitoring, data compliance, L4-L7 services, video conferencing, IPTV and VoD delivery, video transcoding, wireless media gateways and cloud servers.
