This week just saw the SYS-CON iPhone Developer Summit come to the West Coast on November 3rd. Along with the unseasonal warm weather... it was a HOT event!
The sessions were well attended by a good number of professional developers etc who were eager to learn, discuss and take the iPhone to the next level...the Enterprise. I would like to take this moment, to thank the presenters.
During the event Sybase made 3 announcements that will advance iPhone adoption in the enterprise... New Device Management, Relational Database with Synchronization, and mBanking Solutions, all for the iPhone. Let me investigate them further...
Firstly, Afaria 6.5 comprises new hosting options via a highly-secure multi-tenant infrastructure, enhanced security updates, and a new policy based model for enabling simplified device management across a range of platforms and smartphone devices including iPhone.
Secondly the beta of SQLAnywhere for iPhone, which will supply Data synchronization between device and enterprise. With SQL Anywhere for iPhone, developers can build rich applications that use a local database on the device and that share data between the device and a server. Integration with enterprise databases. Developers can build applications that share data between the iPhone and relational databases such as Oracle, Sybase ASE and SQL Anywhere, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.
Finally, to meet the growing demand of consumers for mobile banking solutions, the company announced availability of its leading mobile banking iPhone application through the Sybase® mBanking 365™ platform.
Such a cool few days!
