Réseau de cryptographie quantique en fonctionnement depuis plus de 12'000 heures

GENÈVE, Suisse, October 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Le réseau quantique SwissQuantum a été mis en place à Genève par l'Université de Genève (UniGe), la Haute Ecole Spécialisée de Suisse Occidentale (HES-SO) et la société id Quantique dans le but de démontrer la maturité de la cryptographie quantique et ceci dans un réseau maillé. Contrairement aux autres réseaux quantiques, celui-ci est utilisé pour sécuriser du trafic réel et est testé indépendamment.

La cryptographie quantique est une technologie permettant de distribuer sur des liens optiques des clés de chiffrement dont la sécurité est garantie par les lois de la physique quantique. Pour Nicolas Gisin (UniGe) << il s'agit de la seule technologie garantissant une confidentialité à long terme. >>

Les trois liens de cryptographie quantique formant le réseau transmettent des clés de chiffrement entre ses trois noeuds. Ces clés sont ensuite utilisées pour chiffrer des communications, comme par exemple un lien 10 gigabit Ethernet entre le CERN et l'Université de Genève.
