TORONTO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/02/09 -- The Association of Electronic Journalists (RTNDA Canada) presented Marketwire Vice President of Partner Relations and Media Services Bernadette Lee with the 2009 RTNDA Distinguished Service Award during the association's Central Regional Conference and Awards Dinner in Toronto on June 27. The RTNDA Board of Directors was unanimous in its selection of Bernadette for the annual honour, which recognizes an individual who is deemed to have rendered exemplary service to the benefit of both RTNDA and broadcast journalism in Canada.
Ms. Lee joined RTNDA in 2003 and was appointed Sponsorship Committee Chair in 2006. In her role with the association, Bernadette has been responsible for raising funds for RTNDA's National Conference and has continuously exceeded expectations, raising record amounts in 2007 and 2008.
"Bernadette's success as sponsorship chair has helped RTNDA raise the bar at our conferences -- both in the kind of content we can offer members and in turning our annual awards show into one of the most prestigious events in Canadian broadcast journalism," says RTNDA President Cal Johnstone.
In her role at Marketwire, Ms. Lee develops and maintains strategic relationships with the company's core partners including news agencies (The Canadian Press, The Associated Press), financial content providers (Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL) and regulators (Toronto Stock Exchange, Regulatory News Service, US Securities and Exchange Commission). She also works to advance Marketwire's media strategy, not only helping to expand the reach of the newswire's online distribution footprint, but also researching and executing on better ways to distribute content to media providers.
"In a business that is continuously changing and evolving, one thing remains constant -- Bernadette's dedication to her colleagues, peers and the industry itself in everything she does," said Michael Nowlan, Marketwire's President and CEO. "We are extremely proud to see Bernadette recognized with this award."
"I would very much like to thank the association sponsors who, despite uncertain economic times, steadfastly and generously support RTNDA, its goals and the broadcast media community in Canada," says Lee. "It's been a true honour to work with such dedicated and inspiring individuals."
