Cash Money/Universal Grammy Award winning recording artist Lil Wayne is gearing up to release his eighth album Rebirth this summer and word has already spread to the masses. Curiosity is mounting to see what Lil Wayne will deliver. Not one to disappoint, the multi-platinum, four-time Grammy winner crosses the divide with a full-fledged, guitar-based composition with the release of two stunning singles; “Prom Queen,” and “In Your Face,” featuring label-mate Kevin Rudolf, who also produced the track.
The frenzy of media attention swelled as Lil Wayne graced the cover of the April 16th issue of Rolling Stone Magazine (Issue 1076), which declared him the best MC in 2008. “How does arguably the greatest rapper on Earth follow up a blockbuster like 2008’s Tha Carter III, an album that moved more than 1 million copies its debut week and solidified Lil Wayne’s place in hip-hop history? By shifting gears and attempting to conquer rock & roll,” declared Rolling Stone. Lil Wayne gave further explanation of the production process as a guest on ABC’s hit talk show The View, which aired May 24th.
Lil Wayne is primed to make 2009 another year destined for the history books after selling nearly 3 million copies of Tha Carter III, the top selling album of 2008, bringing his career total to over 10 million albums. Lil Wayne ringtones were also the most downloaded ringtones in 2008, according to AT&T sales records.
Some may say that he’s everywhere, but his fans disagree and they want to see more. Always eager to give his fans what they want, Lil Wayne has announced that he will be headlining the America’s Most Wanted Music Festival; which kicks off on July 27th in Scranton, PA. This time around, Lil Wayne will be sharing the stage with Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Drake.
